Against All Odds
| To speak about siblings of the mentally ill is to speak
of ambivalence that exists at the deepest levels. It is about loss and
grief. The pain is intensified even more so by confusion and overwhelms
the parents. Mental illness affects the whole family. It is a
catastrophic event for which a developing child has few skills to cope
with.
